Local Authors Meet & Greet
In 2013 we started the monthly authors Meet & Greet event to improve our support for authors in the area. On one Saturday afternoon each month we host 2 or 3 guests for book discussions and signings. This event gives local writers with new books another channel to promote their works and connect with potential new fans. Customers get a chance to meet and chat with the authors, get signed copies of the books, and keep abreast of new local material as it comes out. A win for everyone! The events tend to have an informal feel and so far have been lively and very sociable. The authors have been very engaging and the Meet & Greets have helped generate some buzz for Galveston’s local talent.
For our part, we promote the events through the local print media: Islander Magazine, Galveston Daily News, the Island Guide, and Coast Magazine. As the date approaches we also blog and tweet event details, post signage to our front window, and publish announcements to our email list.
Have you published a book?
Interested authors should contact us to inquire about participating. We are most interested in books about or set in Galveston and Texas, but other themes and subjects will be considered. Once scheduled for an event, you should make available to us a copy of your book, a press release about the book including a synopsis and some biographical information about yourself for us to use in promotions. When possible, additional consignment copies of the books can be carried in the store prior to the event as the promotions tend to produce inquires from the public.
Books for the events will be supplied by the authors and all sales will be handled by the store at an agreed upon price and split.
